Barbara paints primarily from reference photos which she, her husband and friends have taken. Her focus when approaching a new painting is to capture the mood which inspired the photo or still life set up in her studio.

Did you know that the Palo Verde tree is called a "nursery tree" because they frequently grow at the base of Saguaros and support the young Saguaros as they grow tall and straight? Since they die long before the Saguaros, it is like they serve their purpose and then die.
Thanks for sharing these photos with us, it is like I can enjoy Spring on the desert without more sneezing and coughing!
